Thank You CSA for giving us such a great opportunity to visit the observation home in Bhiwandi. We were welcomed by the girls "Namaste Didi" were their words. They all looked excited to know where we had come from.
We enjoyed the games session which created a very strong bond with all the girls. To our surprise they all were very talented and had good knowledge on the social issues - we got to see some good dancers, actors & mimicry artist. They were overjoyed on receiving the gifts given we gave them.
When it was time to say good bye, it was a very indescribable feeling. The girls wanted us to visit again "Didi aap Sunday aana", "Didi you come for Christmas", "Didi I wish I had a sister like you".
We received a very pretty handmade keychain as a return gift. We would love to visit them again.
A visit to Girija (Boys Home) at Kharghar was organized on 4th July, 2014 by the Anavi CSR Team of AESM (I). This is an Orphanage housing some 19 boys in the age group of 8 to 14 (Class 4 to 8) . Mostly Orphans and many of them underprivileged Single Parent kids.
The place is housed in a 3 Story Row House and run by a small NGO which is now supported by Catalysts for Social Action. The Boys welcomed us with a Prayer .Soon after the introductions the boys wanted to play with us. Before that they wrote on a sheet of paper their Names, Age, Class, and Ambition in life, favorite food and favorite sportsman. Soon we were playing Carom, Chess and Monopoly with the boys. It was tough to beat them, they were so sharp. We organized a Drawing Competition on 'Rainy Day'. They did quite well. We hope to display their art on our Office wall shortly.
We were shown around the place including where they sleep and the Kitchen and Mess Area. It was very frugal and simple but nice. Many of the boys go to English Medium schools and rest to Marathi Schools. There are many around the Area who come and help the orphanage including taking Tuitions for them. We left by gifting each boy a School Bag with Exercise Books and a Drawing set. They were so elated and touched our feet in gratitude when they were given the gifts. A small snack was served which the kids relished.
The day ended with a short prayer. We left Girija Home with a sense of sorrow and joy combined. These young boys had touched a chord in our hearts. We look forward to another visit soon.
Anavi team visited Fatimashray: also visited Fatimashray in Andheri East on 19th June 2014. The office staff spent quality time interacting with the girls. Since the schools had just re- opened, ANAVI distributed stationary (books, crayons, pens), Umbrellas. They also savoured on tasty light snacks & drinks in the evening.
This drive was an effort by AESMI to help society through 'Think Foundation' (an NGO working for the cause of Thalassaemia). Think Foundation is in touch with 1000 children suffering from Thalassaemia Major in Mumbai. Blood collected will be used to treat Thalessemia children who are under treatment of Think Foundation.
40 people from the staff willingly came forward to support the social cause. We thank all the donors for supporting this noble and Worthy Cause. It was truly a pleasure to give back to our Society!
This orphanage (for boys) has not only orphans but also few boys who are being looked after here as their parents weren't financially able to look after their children. ANAVI distributed few books amongst the children that could help them in their learning.
15 girls from the orphanage along with Sister Hilda were accompanied by FPD staff volunteers for their annual medical checkups. The girls were divided into 2 groups to be taken for their health checkups. Post medical checkups, they were given required food supplements to suit their needs.
On 30th of January Anavi Mumbai's CSR team visited an orphanage run by the Fatimashray sister for orphan girls and young women aspiring to be sisters.
The sisters are like parent figures for these little girls towards whom they have devoted their life. Most of the girls go to a government funded school and come back and help in the daily chores. An all round development is planned for them and Anavi Mumbai is helping them out to achieve this goal. Anavi Mumbai has donated computers and aided them for teaching the same to these girls, for which a proper computer room with appropriate tables and connection has been set up by Anavi Mumbai's IT department. On the 30th Anavi Mumbai ended its visit by sharing the joy of giving -bags, stationery and food to the girls, thereby making it a very memorable experience for one and all.
You may help us in various ways. Not just by donating fund, but you may also be a part of working team. You can come along with us to serve the underprivileged society. Be with them, teach them, spend time... it could be any thing. They need good words to share.
At the least, one can also help by spreading the work of Anavi on social media. If not you, anyone else may be willing to join.
